    We're BOMA Best

Changing the Future of built environments.

Southcentre Mall is the proud recipient of the BOMA Gold certification. Achieving BOMA Gold certification means a building meets a comprehensive set of environmental and sustainability criteria across several categories, including energy, water, waste reduction, indoor environment, and environmental management.

These criteria are based on industry best practices, government regulations, and stakeholder expectations. Our property and operations team must engage in a rigorous certification process that involves assessments, audits, and ongoing reporting and verification.

The process is designed to ensure that the building meets the highest standards of sustainability and environmental performance and that it continues to maintain these standards over time.

    Sustainability at Southcentre

Southcentre Mall is committed to sustainability.

We’re proud of the following green initiatives:

Southcentre Mall is equipped with 3 compactors for recycling cardboard, paper, and plastics, we’re proud of our 90% waste diversion rate.

Our organics program diverts over 12 metric tons of organics per month, turning leftovers into growth.

With 95% of our lighting fixtures being LED and equipped with smart sensors, we’re illuminating Southcentre Mall more sustainably than ever. Our lights are not just bright; they’re smart.

    Bicycle Parking Stations

Bicycle stands are located at the following entrances: North Entrance near Scotiabank and South Entrance near Sport Chek.

    Bee Adoption

Southcentre Mall has adopted two beehives from urban beekeeping company, Honey Meadow Farms, which live on our rooftop during Spring and Summer to support and help grow the bee population.

    Urban Garden

Throughout the spring to fall season, Southcentre Mall hosts an urban garden atop the mall’s roof featuring 100 planters cultivating vegetables in support of the local organization Made By Momma.
