This Halloween season, Southcentre Mall invites you to experience Heroes Beyond Earth — a one-of-a-kind installation created in partnership with STARS to celebrate their 40th anniversary.

Centre Court has transformed into a glowing crash site where a UFO has landed, surrounded by mysterious lights, sounds, and alien-themed scenes. Step inside to explore, snap a photo, and discover the real heroes behind the story — the STARS team who bring critical care to communities across Western Canada.

Created in collaboration with Calgary’s B!G ART, the installation features a spectacular UFO design and The TUNNEL — an immersive corridor of light and sound that takes you on a cosmic journey through imagination.

Since 1985, STARS has been driven by a simple but powerful mission: providing critical care, anywhere. What began with a single helicopter has grown into a robust network of skilled professionals, united by an unwavering commitment to saving lives. Now, as STARS marks its 40^th anniversary, it reaffirms its promise to be there for every patient when it matters most, driven by the conviction that when it comes to saving lives, distance should never be a barrier.

Designed by Calgary artists Liana Wheeldon (@LMW_Art) and Karlie Christie (@KChristieDesigns), with fabrication by Kevin Christie, the UFO is the show-stopping centerpiece of Heroes Beyond Earth. It appears to have crash-landed right in Centre Court, creating a perfect photo opportunity and capturing the playful, mysterious energy of Halloween.

Walk through The TUNNEL, an immersive corridor of light and sound by Calgary’s B!G ART. Standing 12 feet tall, it glows, hums, and responds to your presence. Explore the passage or head to the interactive control panel to pilot your own light patterns and shape the experience yourself.
