High above the shopping and the everyday hustle, Southcentre has a quieter story growing. Our Rooftop Garden is a green oasis where nature flourishes for a good cause, turning unused rooftop space into food, habitat, and real support for Calgary families.
A garden with a purpose
The Rooftop Garden isn’t just a beautiful escape from the urban bustle. Everything it grows goes toward a cause. The garden directly benefits Made by Momma, a local volunteer-run charity that supports mothers and families facing adversity by delivering nutritious, homemade meals, giving parents the space to rest, recover, and focus on their families.
Our curated garden fills the Made by Momma kitchen with honey, vegetables, herbs, and joy, helping power their meal programs and combat food insecurity across the community.
Last season by the numbers
This past growing season, the Rooftop Garden hosted 150 planters dedicated to supporting Made by Momma’s meal programs. Season after season, that harvest adds up to meaningful, tangible help for families who need it most.
Meet our partners
A garden like this takes a community to grow. We’re proud to cultivate change alongside:
- Made by Momma: our Community Partner, a volunteer-run organization offering peer-to-peer support for mothers and families in crisis through healthy, homemade meals.
- Honey Meadow Farms: our Beehive Partner, a family-owned apiary producing raw, natural, unpasteurized honey. The bees at the Rooftop Garden gather nectar from neighbouring communities up to 3 km away, including Willow Park, Bonavista, and Haysboro.
- MicroHabitat: our urban farming partner, helping transform rooftop space into a thriving, productive garden.
